    Beginning strength building class for older adults offered in Fairbanks

    The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is offering a beginning strength training class in Fairbanks for midlife and older adults. The StrongPeople Strong Bodies class helps increase muscle strength and bone density, improve balance and prevent falls.

    UAF webinar examines climate change impacts on salmon

    A warming climate is both harming and helping salmon in northern regions, according to a University of Alaska Fairbanks fisheries researcher. Peter Westley, principal investigator of the Salmonid Evolutionary Ecology and Conservation Lab, will discuss the variable role of warming on Alaska’s salmon in a free statewide webinar hosted by the UAF Cooperative Extension Service.

    Youths can learn barbecue basics at 4-H Grill Master Camp

    September 12, 2025

    Youths from fourth to 12th grade can learn about fire safety, food safety, starting a charcoal grill, seasoning meats and grilling different meats at the 4-H Grill Master Camp. Youths do not need to be members of 4-H to attend.
