Intellectual property and contracts director hired

Mark Billingsley has joined the UAF Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization
as the intellectual property and contracts director. He will work to protect UAF inventors'
intellectual property, commercialize the inventions, and assist with contract support
and inventor education.
Billingsley has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in industrial engineering from the University
of Florida and a law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. He
is a member of the Alaska Bar Association and has more than five years experience
as an attorney.
鈥淚鈥檓 eager to get to work helping UAF inventors bring their products to the marketplace
for the benefit of the inventors, UAF, Alaska鈥檚 economy and all of society," Billingsley
said. "I鈥檒l draw from my legal and engineering backgrounds to help usher each of UAF鈥檚
inventions through each step of the process."

and website to better serve UAF inventors,鈥 said Richard Collins, OIPC director.
OIPC also has scheduled meetings with colleges and institutes around campus to introduce
the Inventor Portal, which can be opened at . The portal's secure website lets UAF inventors manage their disclosure, patenting
and marketing work.
