Local coffee roasters and caf茅s will show off their specialty items Friday, Nov. 20, at the 2015 Roast and Boast, an event organized by students in a University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management marketing class.

The event will be from 4鈥6 p.m. at Northrim Bank鈥檚 Fairbanks branch, 360 Merhar Avenue.

For the fourth year, the School of Management has formed a partnership with Northrim Bank to host this community event, which features music, food and plenty of hot beverages.

Four businesses will showcase their wares at the event: Great Harvest Bread Co., McCafferty鈥檚 Coffee House, North Pole Roasting Co. and Take 5 Bakery and Caf茅. All participants and the Fudge Pot donated homemade baked goods or gift certificates for the door prizes. The grand prize is an auto-start from Street Sounds.

Students in the Principles of Marketing class helped organize and market the event, gaining organizational management, budgeting, team building and event-planning experience.

鈥淯sually you don鈥檛 get to put on an event of this caliber unless you are working for the company. When an employer looks at your resume and sees you鈥檝e done something like this, it shows involvement beyond the classroom,鈥 said business administration student Pat Lassell. 鈥淎ll in all, stress and homework aside, I鈥檓 having a blast and a great experience.鈥
