Originally set to take place at The Pavilion on the University of 无尽资源采集 campus, the event became the first ever 鈥淓sports Egg Bowl鈥 held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions. The two-day event matched MSU Esports gamers against those from Ole Miss in a best-of-nine video game competition series including titles such as Call of Duty, Madden, Valorant, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Melee and Hearthstone.
MSU Esports President Josh Chumney, a senior software engineering major from Long Beach, said 42 MSU students competed in the event.
鈥淚 am really proud of our performance this weekend,鈥 Chumney said. 鈥淥ur teams have been practicing all semester leading up to this past weekend and our performance showed it.鈥
鈥淚t means a lot to bring the trophy back home, especially in my first year as president,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he amount of hard work and time the players, members and executive committee have put into this club this semester makes me proud to be a part of MSU Esports.鈥
