STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥斘蘧∽试床杉 State Provost and Executive Vice President David Shaw announced today [Nov. 20] that 鈥渙ut of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of our students, Study Abroad programs for the spring semester have been canceled.鈥

Shaw said this decision was made based upon the rising number of COVID-19 cases throughout the world.聽

鈥淲e know this is disappointing news to those who planned to participate in spring programs, and we hope your plans can be postponed and rescheduled for another time,鈥 he said.

Shaw explained that plans for MSU Study Abroad programs scheduled for the 2021 summer and fall terms are proceeding as normal.聽A decision on the summer programs will be made in early February.聽

鈥淭his time interval coincides with the time when contracts and financial commitments have to be made.聽At that time, an assessment of risk and the availability of a vaccine will be considered in making the decision of whether to proceed or cancel these programs,鈥 he said.
