STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥斘蘧∽试床杉 State鈥檚 75th season of the Lyceum Series continues with a performance by modern circus group Cirque Mechanics, hailed by Spectacle Magazine as 鈥渢he greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil.鈥

Touring the production 鈥淶ephyr,鈥 the theatrical circus troupe performs Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall鈥檚 Bettersworth Auditorium. The performance is free for MSU students, and the general public can purchase tickets at . Individual tickets are $30 per person and $25 for MSU employees and senior citizens.

鈥淶ephyr鈥 is the troupe鈥檚 latest wind-inspired production, a tale about the choices humans have made regarding Earth and its resources. Filled with circus acrobatics and original mechanical contraptions, the show displays the group鈥檚 roots in mechanics and the stories of American ingenuity.

Founded in 2004, the group was created by Boston native and German wheel artist Chris Lashua after the successful collaborative project 鈥淏irdhouse Factory鈥 with the Circus Center of San Francisco.

All rooted in realism, the group has created a total of five productions including 鈥淏irdhouse Factory,鈥 鈥淧edal Punk,鈥 鈥42FT-A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels鈥 and the latest 鈥淶ephyr.鈥
